What will be the new architectural dominant at the south of Moscow?

At Glavstroy's request, the Citymakers team organized and conducted an international competition for the project to be built in southwest Moscow.
Citymakers' task was to ensure the best choice of architectural solutions for the premium residential housing. To develop the competition concepts we engaged renowned architectural firms: Unstudio, Netherlands; Rafael Vinoly Architects, USA; PLP Architecture, UK; Studio Fuksas, Italy; Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), USA and Kamen Architects, Russia. We assembled the client's requirements, conducted a historical and urban planning analysis of the area and packed them into a detailed brief.
For the first time in the Russian competition for residential development, Citymakers assembled a star jury, including Martha Thorne, executive director of the Pritzker Architecture Prize and Paul Finch, program director of the World Architecture Festival, vice chairman of the UK Design Council; Sergey Kuznetsov, first deputy chairman of Moscow City Architecture Committee, Сhief architect of Moscow; and others.
Architectural bureau Unstudio was announced the winner of the competition. The Dutch team presented a concept based on a "timeless design". It includes both a reference to the area heritage and contemporary architecture with a focus on the local community. According to the architectural concept, two towers are connected by terraces with landscaping. This construction represents a modern reading of the past and is built around the core of the project, the park.
The project area is 1.93 hectares, including a natural complex on an area of 0.24 hectares.
