At the initiative of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), CM International launched an international competition to develop the concept for a new building for the Faculty of Physics.

The current building of the Faculty of Physics at Lomonosov Moscow State University was built in 1953 and has served for 70 years, providing the necessary conditions for study, creativity, and communication. The Faculty of Physics is a place where students come to receive their education, a second home to which they dedicate their lives for decades.

On July 13, 2023, specialists from Russia, China, and the United Kingdom began working on the concept of the new building for the Faculty of Physics at MSU. Five leading architectural firms prepared their proposals. This was one of the first competitions in Russia in recent years where teams from other countries participated: UNK project, Rocco Design & MLA+, Asadov, Studio 44, BIAD & Druzhba.

The expert commission included 13 MSU researchers and 4 independent architectural experts, who selected three finalists for the competition:
