The region, the city and the Public Chamber of the Altai Territory were faced with the task of starting to talk publicly about plans for the development of Barnaul and the Altai Territory, including business, the expert community and citizens in the dialogue. Therefore, in June 2024, on the initiative of the Public Chamber of the Altai Territory, a conference “Spatial development of the territory. Sustainability. Comfortable urban environment. Window of opportunity." Program Directorate – CM International.

More than 20 leading federal and international experts took part in the event as speakers, and more than 200 specialists, representatives of the regional administration, business and non-profit organizations took part as listeners. The online broadcast was watched by more than 1,000 people, and coverage through federal and regional media amounted to more than 300,000 people.

In preparation for the event, a study “40 ideas for the future” was conducted, dedicated to Barnaul and its agglomeration. It was presented at the forum, included data on the most promising areas of development for the Altai Territory and Barnaul and assessed the readiness of the territories for such transformations.
