how do you create a new park on the site of an old one and accommodate the wishes of all its users?

in August 2022, at the initiative of the Omsk City Administration and Etalon Group, CM International began working on the development concept for the 300th Anniversary Park of Omsk. The main goal of such a project is to transform the existing old park within its boundaries and make it convenient for all city residents. To work closely with future users, we conducted a wide range of engagement activities, including creating the platform park300.rf, where every resident could submit suggestions, ideas, or share stories related to the park.

from August to October 2022, together with residents and experts, we developed the Public Technical Assignment. By December 2023, we presented the full development concept for the 300th Anniversary Park of Omsk. The main principles of the project included: preserving the natural character of the park, supporting its biodiversity, creating spaces for all user categories, focusing on the local community, maintaining and enhancing continuity in park use, and phased implementation. All of this will allow for the evolutionary development of the park area, continuously improving it.

the park concept proposes new functional zoning with active and quiet spaces, as well as sports and natural rings. All these elements will be unified by the park's central axis: the forest zone will be formed by the historical forest massif, with the concept aiming to minimize its impact. New objects will appear in the park area, and the natural landscape will be altered by additional plantings.

expert analysis of the territory helped to form new routes through a sequence of clearings—a connected network of open spaces within the forest massif. The functional content of these clearings, with permanent or temporary art objects, will activate the park's cultural and event program.
